Postal Vote

If you are eligible to vote, you have the right to apply for a postal vote. You can only submit this application for all elections (i.e. all academic and student elections combined) in one go. You can submit the application for postal voting informally, most easily online in the election portal. The application must be submitted by 6/10/25, 2:00 PM at the latest.

When applying for a postal vote by mail (please note the postage!), please bear in mind the usual postal delivery times: depending on your place of residence, the post office needs two days to deliver the postal vote and the election committee also needs time to process the postal vote applications. We strongly recommend that you submit your postal vote application at least one week before the election week.

After your postal vote application has been processed, you will receive the postal voting documents by post. These contain several different ballot papers (one to three), a voting envelope, a polling card and an official return envelope. The completed ballot papers (folded together) are placed in the voting envelope, which is placed in the official return envelope together with the signed polling card. Please make sure you seal the voting envelope, otherwise we will have to count your votes as invalid.

The sealed official return envelope must be received by the electoral officer no later than the last day of the election, 6/20/25, 6:00 PM ,including the personally signed polling card and ballot papers. You will find a more detailed explanation on the polling card.

You will receive the election documents for the academic elections in a separate letter. Please also return them separately. The deadlines are the same for all elections.

If you have applied for a postal vote but would like to cast your ballot in person, you can do so at any polling station. However, this is only possible by showing your polling card.

Postal voting for academic staff

Academic staff always vote in academic elections by postal ballot. However, this does not automatically mean that they will also receive postal voting documents for the student body elections. Postal votes for all student body elections can be applied for via the channels already described.
