We are delighted that you are interested in getting involved and running for election, or at the very least, considering the possibility.
At first glance, this appears to be relatively complex and very difficult. In the following, we first explain the process and then the terms used.
If you still have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. There are hardly any stupid questions. Only those who are stupid don't ask.
The first step is to find a group of eligible voters with whom you would like to form a joint ticket. This is a good idea, for example, if you have common goals and ideas for university policy. From this group, you elect two confidants.
One of the two confidants creates an election proposal in the election portal. In the election portal there are auxiliary texts that guide you through the creation of the proposal, after clicking on "Create ticket" it takes a short time until the page loads. On this page there is an invitation link for candidates and a link to add the second confidant. Confidants can access the overview page for the election proposal at any time from the election portal via the "Edit ticket" link.
The election proposal is only deemed to have been formally and officially submitted once the following steps have been completed and, in particular, the correctly completed forms have been received by the election committee on time.
The confidants pass on the link to run for election to all interested individuals. They use it to submit their candidacy. By the submission deadline of 5/2/25, 2:00 PM, a personal declaration must be submitted stating that the information concerning them is correct and that they have agreed to be included in the election proposal and accept it if elected. Instead, Form B can also be submitted to the election committee by the same deadline.
The confidants can see who has registered for their ticket and change the order of candidates. The order displayed is transferred to the ballot paper. It is also displayed whether there are any problems with the individual candidates (form missing, form being checked).
The confidants must print out form A by 5/2/25, 2:00 PM, sign it together and submit it to the election committee. It is possible to change the order of the candidates up to this deadline.
In the election portal, the confidants can print out form C and collect the necessary number of supporters together with the candidates. This must also be received by the election committee by 5/2/25, 2:00 PM. If an election proposal has more candidates than the required number of supporters, this step can be omitted.
The election committee checks the nominations and forms received promptly and provides feedback via the election portal and by email. If there are any deficiencies in an election proposal, we will notify you and explain how you can rectify them or what other options you have (e.g. to lodge a complaint). You will also receive a positive message as soon as your nomination has been authorised for the election.
Each election proposal must nominate two confidants. Only those two representatives are authorised to make and receive binding declarations on the ticket. The authorised representatives may be replaced by others by written declaration of the majority of the signatories of a ticket.
In order to be admitted to the election, each ticket requires a minimum number of supporters. The number of supporters depends on the respective election and the number of eligible voters and will be published here as soon as it is known. Candidates are automatically also supporters. Supporters may not also support or stand for other tickets.
If an election proposal does not meet the requirements, there is a deficiency. You will be notified of the defect as soon as it is discovered. You have until 5/7/25, 2:00 PM to correct it.
Various defects cannot be eliminated. These include: The absence of a first name or surname or the lack of a signed declaration of the accuracy of the information. The respective candidature is then not authorised. If more than one third of the candidates in an election proposal are not authorised, the entire election proposal is not authorised.
The election regulations specify a number of requirements regarding the form and content of election proposals. These are fulfilled if the forms are completed correctly. The forms therefore make work easier for you and the election committee. The following forms are available: Form A – Ticket, Form B – Candidacy, Form C – Supporters. The forms are generated pre-filled and can be downloaded from the election portal at any time.
On request, the election committee can provide blank forms that can be used instead of the election portal.
The forms can be submitted by post, in person (at the AStA or during office hours) or digitally (by E-Mail) If you submit the form digitally, please note the following: It must be printed out, signed by hand and then digitised. You must ensure that it is of sufficient quality (comparable to the original).
